Introduction
IEC (Import-Export Code) is a license which is mandatory to take for buying and selling of products in the International market. As passport is required to travel abroad similarly Import and Export Code is required for selling and buying products outside India. IMPORTER EXPORTER CODE ( in short IEC ) is a ten digit number granted by Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT). Any business entity including individuals can apply for the registration for import into or export from India.
